2000 Rancher question

Since I don't have a manual for this thing, I was wondering if someone could tell me why the "run" switch has 3-positions.....
I notice it has "run" in the center position, but the other two to the left and right are both "off" positions... Is one of the two off positions for something else, like off w/electric power still on or something?

It's a Honda thing. The kill switch is only meant for turning it off in an emergency, like if you roll it or something. Imagine you are groping for the switch in an emergency, so having two ways to push it instead of one....well doesn't that just make a lot more sense????

thanks guys...
I guess it makes sense....
Except for a Honda dummy like myself... I have tried to start the thing several times in what I thought was the run position. Just yesterday I went to start it for the first time after sitting most of the winter, and I nearly starting taking things apart because it would not fire up. I then realized that I had pushed the button all the way to the right like our other quads.....
I had to tell myself "center position you stupid a$$...CENTER...." I'm glad I realized it before I ran the battery dead....LOL

haha, another unsuspecting fool caught by the kill switch.....
j/k we've all been there, done that. I've done it myself a few times. Another good thing about the 3 position switch is that it makes it easy to ride up alongside your buddy and flip his switch off when he's riding...Oh wait, only I do that....

i guess its for when your in tight situation and you need to kill your motor, it goes both ways so you dont have to spend seconds trying to turn it to one direction. it helped me when i crashed, my motor was still running, but i was shellshocked, i reached for mine and uncontiousley shut it off, i wasnt all there, it helped that i didnt have to take a sec and move it back and forth to find off.
