Default 400ex hot cam/bore...

lets say i don't race the bike much and i mostly ride trails/woods. with my girl, on the back. i want to bore it and hot cams. but i don't race track and i don't hit dunes... so my question is 440 bore what stage hot cams, or 426 bore stage one hot cams. i want the power but i don't want to hurt my bike because i ***** it around the tails most of the time? anything will help thanks guys/ girls!

In your case, i would probably just get an exhaust system, re-jet the carb, get a new air fliter/airbox or take your lid off, trhen maybe think about getting a 416 or 426 bore kit. With the stage 1 cam. In my opinoin, I wouldn't think the 440 kit would be the right choice for you.(Based on what you posted) Hope this helps some. Red

I agree with redrider, except for the internal mods.

I had a 440ex with a cam and the whole bit, I ride aggresive most of the time, and I still don't think it was worth it.

I would just do bolt-ons if you want a little more power, especially a trail rider. If you must have more power, it would be better to just upgrade to a different machine.

upgrade'n to a new bike is out. as for the mods for the 400ex, i got monster coil, and rev box, i'm save'n for the lte. after that i wanted to put the bore and cam only if it willn't hurt the bike you know. so lets say i put the lte, then stage1 cam, with a 426 bore. you think that would be plenty? for what i do? with out hurting it too bad. i do ride pretty agessive with the boys, but i find myself 50% of the time riden the old lady around too.

thanks
Junior
