I have to totally disagree. :-) haha.

I ride a few weekends each month on my 2006 Rubicon side by side with 2006 Foreman. He does not have the low end power I do AS LONG as I run Low Range ES. If I am in automatic he has equal, possibly more power than I do. I am even running larger tires than he is and I still got through deeper mud and climb bigger hills.

I also pulled him in his Toyota truck, with trailer and Formena out of the mud using my Rubicon and not the winch. Maybe I got a good Rubi or maybe you have ridden with a bad one. He wishes every time we ride that he had gotten the Rubi because he uses the heck out of his on his farm too.

I can believe you are shifting more JamieBing, the Foreman's low gear is only 1st, while you have an entire range of low with the Rubicon.

What I was asking is the difference between the 1st gear ratio of the Foreman vs the 1st ESP gear in low on the Rubicon. I am pretty sure it isn't the Foreman having a 20% lower ratio than the Rubicon so I don't see how the Foreman could out pull the Rubicon in every situation given the 20% hp advantage of the Rubicon.

The Rubicon's transmission does not eat power. It bleeds efficiency off to get a lower output while increasing torque at that lower ratio. The same as a manual, efficiency is reduced in lower ratios.

As a side note, the liquid cooled engines are quieter too.

I also have a 2006 RUBICON . Ive got to tell you, in low gear its a totally different animal ! I always cruise around in low. I love the torque .It will only do @38mph on the rev limiter in low .My buddy weighs @ 260lbs and on a hard surface it will pull the front wheels up @ 6 inches from a dead stop in auto low . I ve never riden a foreman though .So I cant really compare them .Good luck with your choice !!

Have you clipped the carb spring yet? If not, it makes a world of difference in the little hint of throttle hesitation. Take off the top of carb, pull out the spring, count down about 10 or 11 twists and snip. Even with the extra weight of MudLite XTR's ( which I just put on today off my wifes 4wheeler) it will still get the front tires off the ground and I have not put in a K&N or anything else.

Thinking about pipe and rejet but I dont know crap about rejetting so I would be stuck at the mercy of the dealership... no telling what they would charge. Too bad I dont had a buddy I could by some beer for locally. haha The more I ride my Rubicon the more I like it. At first it felt a bit bulky but now I ride the devil out of it.

Changing the main jet is a piece of cake .Turn off your gas and run it til it stalls to prevent any excess fuel spillage .Pop off you shifter , take off the upper plastics ,( @ 8 plastic clips and 2 bolts) ,pull off you stock pipe ,( its easier to get to the carb with the pipe off ) then just loosen the clamps on both sides off the carb. Spin the carb so that the bottom faces the left side. Remove the 4 phillips head screws on the fuel bowl. The main jet is the one in the middle. unscrew the old one and install the new one in ,reassemble and then just recheck your mixture adjustment. I didnt have to touch mine !only took @ an hour and a half for everthing. ( That includes taking the pipe back off to get to the carb better !!) GO FOR IT !!

How do I check the mixture? That is th emillion dollar question for me.

Thanks for the rest of the info.. Makes it sound very doable. Hell I work on all my trucks, just never owned a wheeler until this one.

there is no way the rubicon has 20% more horse power! its only like a 25cc's difference in motor sizes and the rubi tranny eats that up!
