Nice to know I have good company with
my 250 friends. Some questions here if
anyone can contribute.

1) What other models and/years of parts from either
250, 300 or 400 classes can I use on this bike?

2) Where can I find a set of nerf bars (low end, low cost)
to add to my year bike?

3) If you bought a 20 year old quad like mine what would be the first
things you would replace/check and MODIFY?

There was no such thing as a 250EX until 00.

I think you may mean 250X.......it's a kick starter, right??? The 250X later got electric start and a bump in displacement and became the 300EX.

not politically correct. Yes it is a kick
start and I know its a Fourtrax cause of
the owners manual. Would you have any info.

A lot of 300EX aftermarket parts, etc., should fit the 250. I had DG nerf bars, skid plates, and bumpers on mine back when.

 

Okay am I to assume it must be the same year (300ex)?
What years will the 300ex fit my 197 250x?

Okay I am going over my nephews this
weekend to help him with some adjustments
(spark plug change out, K&N filter clean, new
light bulb on stock head light etc.)

What would be some tune ups or adjustments
you would start with? Is there anything to lube?
What about brake/clutch line or handle adjustments?
Chain, how do I tighten/adjust the chain? Is there a
specific tool for this? What about the Rear big thick
Shock, what maintenance is there? Trans or clutch fluids?

We already changed the oil with filter. We plan on using
the Honda dealer bought degreaser for clean up and then
touch up the cosmetics on the red frame etc.

And what would I use to tighten the chain on
this chain driven shaft? Don't know when
the lst time it ws adjusted, how can I tell
if it needs adjusting, what ratio?
