My WARN winch is screwed up. I have the 2500 lb one. It will only pulll enough to tighten the cable. Then it stoppes and my neutral light goes dim. I don't think it is the battery because i have a 1999 honda 300 4x4. The winch usually would have shifted gears but it doesn't. Anyone had this porb before? How do I fix it without bringing it in and waiting a month to get it back?

Test the winch for short.Sounds like when the winch goes under heavy load it either can't get enough power or it has gone to short.
Connect to different good battery and try,If it still does it the winch is busted.But make sure you are using the correct size cable to power the winch,To small a cable size could do the same thing.
Also test winch directly to battery, If it works start from there.Good luck.

 

I fixed it. It was a dirty connection.
