alaskaweasel,
Greg explained to all of us that he rides with alot of Ranchers with the AP diff and has yet to see one that works as Honda described? You stated that you also ride with a few guys with the AP diff and they do work as described!

It appeared to me that you discredited Gregs statement?I dont doubt EITHER of you guys, however, you sure appeared to come unglued when Greg said he was not yet convinced that the AP diff worked as described.Im sorry if I misunderstood you.

I will make my own opionion on the AP diff as soon as I ride with someone who owns one, until than,I dont discredit what either you or Greg say about the AP diffs funtion!

Happy New Year,
Bill

Fair enough Bill. I didn't come unglued, however I guess how i discredited Greg is the fact I don't expect locker performance out of a Cam style front diff as in the Rancher and Rubicon. However I do expect better performance out of it than the Old limited slip Honda had. That is clear and not to many would disagree with that except Greg, which I might add he said he didn't believe it worked any better than the older Hondas not me.

alaskaweasel,
Your correct,Greg did say he did'nt think the AP diff worked any better than the limited slip style diffs from the hundreds or so Ranchers he has visioned over the yrs,but thats what HE felt HE witnessed and reported on.Is he right?Perhaps not,but its still HIS opionion. He has reported many differant things back to these Forums, and from the posts I have witnessed,I beleive that Greg feels strongly about what he posts.I recall a post from him where he reported that he actually beat a HO Sportsman in a drag race with a non HO Sportsman.Do you know how many guys beleive that?MY guess is very few,but it was him racing, and him posting the results. He has posted several times about differant barrel races, mud races, ect, and also listed in DETAIL the place the quads come in ect.He really goes into details about these events. He gets right into it!

You on the other hand have also seen many AP diffs work before and feel that they funtion MUCH better than the old style limited slip diffs!Thats perfectly fine to,thats what YOU have witnessed and posted on,GREAT.

From what I have READ,the AP diffs are suppose to work alot better than the old style limited slip diffs, and im sure they do,however,I reserve MY opionion until I can actually see one in action.

Now the question is,which one of you guys are correct? In each of your own ways[you and Greg]you both feel you are correct, and thats all ok because we ALL have opionions, some we agree with, some we dont. Its just the way the ball bounces sometimes!Isnt it great to have so many choices of 4x4s?

HAVE A SUPER NIGHT,
Bill

Bill: Well said and I would agree that opinions differ. However I as well as most people have tons of opinions on Polaris and other brands. However I learned to limit what I say on other brands, mainly Polaris because people go bonkers just as bad as they do over here. Rivalries, aren't they great! I admit I love Hondas, however I have or our buisness has owned just about every brand of Quad out there(or ride with someone that has one). So before I say anything (as probably Greg does to) I really believe what I am saying is true from first hand experience. That is where me and Sir. Greg end up bumping heads. However if I lived in Texas and not Alaska I would thoughly enjoy bumping quads at FWP with Greg. Great place to ride I've heard, only been near is once when dating my wife whom is from Plano. But until I am rich or Greg is(which I don't think Greg would mind coming up here either), it probably wont happen. But if it does I am sure it would be fun.
Heck Greg should start a "Send Greg to Alaska Fund" he knows enough atving people in Texas he should have some connections;-) Talk to you guys later, Happy atving(and NEW YEAR) and keep out of trouble.

alaskaweasel,
I'll be the first to admit that Polaris has more features on their ATVs that attract ME.One thing a 4x4 ATV must have before I will ever concider buying it is the ability to turn all 4 wheels when in 4x4,thats an absolute MUST for ME.Living proof of this is WAY back in 1986,I was searching for a 4x4 ATV.Back than your choices were limited to the Foreman 350cc with a limited slip front end,or the Suz Quad Runner 250cc with the capabilities of a LOCKER.I chose the locker over the larger CC quad. But thats just me,others could be just as content as me with limited slip ect.

I really think the ATV world has advanced so far now that there really is not a ''BAD'' ATV manufacturer out there today,I could be wrong.I know that Polaris sure had their share of problems earlier,I know,I had one.To me,it dont matter what you ride because we are ALL going to have the time of our lives riding whatever we choose,

Well, after a day of riding with the gang at FWP. Greg had a ball turning around to me and saying "look at your front end". He is right! I watched it carefully all day long and it doesnt do any better than a limited slip. Oh well, good thing there is going to be a locker for it in a few weeks.

Bill, as a side note, I saw greg take the HO. In fact I saw me take the HO also. Greg and me are usually even on the drag strip and are waiting on competition....

Snowshark, the program is called ATV TeleVision (and appropriately, it's initials are ATV), and it is shown on the Outdoor Network on Mondays (4:30pm), Thursdays (9:30am), and on Saturday (3pm). Heck, even the commercials are ATV-related.....

I have posted before that the same bike from the same manufacturer may perform very different. I have seen Big Bears that appeared to locked when they were not. I have seen Hondas like this also. However, some differentials do not pull well at all. I am not sure why. So, it is hard for me to say that the new differntial is clearly better when I have seen the new differentials just free wheels when some of the older ones almost appear locked.

I do not mind an occasional disagreement like this... it almost keeps thigs interesting. Also, I like to hear what other people think even if they are wrong. (LOL)

Mark,
Sorry you guys had to cut out this weekend... I did not even get to tell you bye. Was it too cold for Elise?

This is what I understand so far from what I'm hearing here.Differentials will turn both front wheels if on they have equal traction.Than explain these results to me.http://www.atvconnection.com/atvconn.../nyatvpull.cfmIs it only because the Polaris machines weight more that they did well? If the other makes were aloud to put a passenger on the back for more weight they would of won more in this contest? Someone told me that this contest has nothing to do with traction but I think it has to do alot with it because none of the bikes ran out of power.
