07 Rubicon

I didn't really get a chance to ride it before I bought it. Our dealer doesn't really have a place to test ride. We found that coming down long steep hills was hard because you had to rely on the brakes so much. The engine braking isn't much until you get over 10mph. My fiance almost jumped off because her hands got so cramped up and gave out on her when we were coming down a long steep hill. I loved the ride though. the Rubicon has really good engine braking, the best I have seen on any ATV.

I have 2, the new 07 and an 04. Any tips on these machines would be greatly appreciated. I have only had them about a month so far. I can tell they're going to be great at pulling a trailer across the Idaho wilderness this summer.

Well so far, the I've just have had the cam, lifters, and tensioner replaced (04/18/07) on our 04, it has 5,200 miles on it and those are very easy miles, as for the 05, that has 3,200 miles and runs like a dream, the 07 is new so can't say much there yet.

Congratulations, I have the 05 rubicon with 3700 miles and I love the transmission. So far no problems yet.
Rubicon1963, why do you have three rubicons? Hope you don't mind me asking.

I have been researching oils for my Rubicons. I called the dealer, they want $7.00 per quart for the Honda oil. That's rediculous. I'm looking for an alternative. I am thinking about going with the Castrol 10w40. It has the ratings (Or better) specified in the owners manual. the owner's manual calls for SG rating or higher and no Energy Conserving additives. Castrol 10-40 and 10-30 meets this spec. What do you guys think? It's on sale at Napa for 2>39 Quart.
