Which Mods For 2007 400EX??Help
#1
ok i have looked on every site and it seems that every topic that comes up for this is based on the 400ex from 2004 or so, so i need help. you guys know alot as i have read almost every topic and i was wondering what mods i should get to my stock 2007 400ex. i know how to put all it in and stuff, just there are so many options and i dont wanna go spending hundreds of dollars on stuff that ends up being crap. ok so i am deff looking for a pipe. a full exhaust, i dont know which one. i dont mind it being loud, just not killing me loud haha. can you guys think of anything else that i could use? i have money, but i dont want to spend more than 2 grand on this stuff. ok i appreciate it.

2 grand will get you quite a bit of stuff.
Check into a high rev CDI, and a K&N open air box lid. Check into some good skid plates.
Really, that would have you pretty much covered on the motor without doing anything internally, short of changing the carb. You could tweak the gearing a bit with a sprocket change.
Pretty much down to suspension improvements from there.
Welcome to the forums, 400exriderrr and enjoy the new ride.

Hey 400exriderrr congrats on the new quad. If I were you I'd getcha a repair manual for your ex. It will walk you through about anything you wanna do to it. As long as your handy with a wrench you should be able to handle it. It beats the snot out of getting robbed by an installation shop.
As far as sites for parts there are tons of them.
www.denniskirk.com <--will send you free catalogue
www.hondaparts-direct.com
www.motosport.com
Thats a few. You can find many, more just ask google.

>thanks man. and can i buy that repair manual book at one of the websites you jsut named?
Yup. Only thing I'm wondering about is that since your is '07 it may be to soon for a publication on it. Check out if there are any major differences in the '06-'07 models. I doubt there are. If not the book covering up to '06 will work for ya.

I'd check ebay too. Lots of stuff can be found at a good price there. Manuals are one thing they have cheap.
Check out Dennis Kirk's clearance section.

First off, I agree with pretty much everything Scooter and Koopa has said.
Second, you can get a manual for a '05 or '06, the last year for changes was the '05.
And third, you really didn't state what type of riding you do? Basically all I recomend doing to machine's to get good power out of them and keep great reliability, is add on a slip-on exhaust (that will be all you need, a new head pipe is a waste of money unless you're a serious racer), high flow air filter, and then re-jet accordingly.
Other than that, I would just worry about things like skid plates, maybe a aftermarket bumper for style and protection, and then some new tires depending on what type of terrain you ride.

That's what I have on mine. Sounds good but have to say the MX-4 Sounds better. They have a closeout deal on denniskirk that you cant beat right now. Get the White Bros. MX-4 and a fmf powerbomb header it will save you money and sound great. Don't forget to rejet. The MX-4 will come with the recomended jet.
