aight well im 15 years old and i really want to spend some more time with my dad,i mean pretty soon i will be goin off to colledge and wont be able to spend any time with him. ive really been trying to get him to buy 2 four wheelers. its weird cuz he will get into it and be like "yeah it would be really fun to get those". i mean we have gone to the dealer many times and i know its no that easy to just spend 10 grand on two quads, but he has even gone so far as to put 500 dollars down on 2 400exs and called the guy 2 days later and backed outta the deal. he did this twice once with the 400ex's an once with the warriors. i really arent a bad kid, i get 3.0 gpa's im not overly rich or anything jsut a kid lookin to have some fun and spend some time with his father. if anyone could help me try to find anything that would be holding him back from buying these or give me soem more tips on somehow persuading him to get these it would be a great help.
thanks,
chris

Well, a couple things come to mind. First off do you know any father and son atv riders. If you could get them to talk with you a little about their experiences.

Also, do you or your father have any experience on quads. Maybe, a 400EX really excites you but it might scare your dad. He might have heard something from a friend about a 400EX being to powerful for a beginner. Just like anything in life you have to be realistic. Lofty goals are great, but sometimes to get from point A to B;You have to do point a.1 and so on.

Also talk with your dad, and make sure to listen. See if you can really find out why he hasnt been able to close the deal on some new quads. Now the important thing is not to answer his questions too quickly. Make sure to really listen and understand his concerns. Then answer him and if you dont have an answer tell him you dont, but that you will see if you can get the anwer. Then come back here and see if somebody knows. There are plenty of guys in here who have gotten quads with or from their parents I am sure of it.

I will leave you with this. My family has had atvs since before I was born my mom and dad bought US 90s in like 1970. I really cant think of a time in my life that I havent had an atv or a dirtbike. It really is a great pasttime and my father and brother both ride with me almost all the time. Recently, my father and I hauled a trailer full of quads all the way to Utah from Virginia to enjoy a week of atving, and I have to say it was probably the best vacation I have ever had. The time spent with my dad was great and he had an absolute blast.

I am 29 and my son is 13. I bought him a 110 about 4 or so years ago, he outgrew that and got a 185s. A little over a year ago I adopted him and bought him a new Blaster. At the same time, I sold the old ATC250R and bought myself a new 400EX. We always have the best times when we are riding. I think it brings us closer every time we go out. You just have to remember that no matter what you are riding that you are spending good time together. We had fun no matter what machines we were on.

Offer to try to earn some money so he knows you are dedicated and its not just a phase.
If he realizes that you are willing to work to get a quad it will open his eyes alot.
If you are not an experienced rider you might want to reconsider the 400ex and start smaller.
Introduce him to the utility quads.
Good luck

ok well i would consider myself pretty experienced, ive been riding dirtbikes and quads since i was about 5. i talked to him and he said thats he likes atv's alot but he likes dirtbikes more just because he grew up on one. i think he said he had a hodaka dirt squirt or somthin. i am also working to earn money towards the 400ex but that really doesnt seem to matter to him. he thinks that i should just be working anyway, which is kinda true i guess.. i guess though i have said that i do want 2 differnt things a snowmobile also but that was jsut kinda of a phase.(my friend got a new one adn i was like wow that thing flys compared to our 79 artic cat pantera). then my dad kinda was saying like oh so you want a new snowmobile now...geez you want everything dont you.
