Stolen, and....

Last week my 04 bruin 4x4 with aluminum skid plates and 2.5 winch was stolen. we had it locked up with an aircraft cable and they cut it with wirecutters.
were thinking about getting a used rubicon or foreman. or a new 420 rancher.
we looked at the ranchers today and the lady let us start one up, man it was awesome! she wanted $5500 OTD.
were getting a yellow ES model.
but i have a question. will it be able to tow atleast 2000lbs? because i live on a farm.

Foreman is 992 lbs. Rancher is a little less than that. No idea about the Rubi.
I'm not sure what these numbers actually mean. I think you could tow a 2,000 lb wagon, but certainly not drag that amount of dead weight along the ground. Keep in mind that as you overload, stopping can become an issue!

thanks for the reply!
Im sure if my old bruin could do it the rancher could. it is a wagon, full of tobacco lol, but it would only be a couple 100 yards and its flat too so no worries. no one has really said how they do in mud tho. i kinda wonder about that because here in nc when it rains, that red clay gets thick, and sticky

The Foreman 500 is the classic work quad. If this is a pure work machine, I would go with it.
I think Honda took a little more of a sporty track with the 420 engine. It is slightly over square, so it likes to rev more than your typical utility. They didn't go so much for grunt with this engine. If you are mostly a trail rider and only do occasional work, you might get by with it. It does have a super low 1sr gear.

The 420 does just fine as a work quad, I prefer it over my '06 Foreman. I work it on the farm on a daily basis and it always gets the job done. I pulled loaded round bale wagons with it this winter and it did fine. It shouldn't have any problem with your tobacco wagon. $5500 is too much to pay though. Call (304)257-4420 and they'll set you up with a new ES model for $4895 OTD.
