New guy needs help
#1
Hey guys, I'm new to the site and I figure this question has been answered a bunch allready, but I can't seem to find it in a search.
I parded my recon ES after deer season and it was doing great. I tried to get it going today and the battery was toast. Put the charger on it and couldn't get it to shift. No noise at all when I push either button. When I shift it manually, the light on the 1st gear blinks but no shift. Can someone tell me where to start looking for problems ? It will start and run just fine.
Thanks
Hogtide

If the battery is not fully charged, it will not shift well or at all. check your fuses.
Other than that, count the blinks on the dash. Most likely a bad shift angle sensor or connection.

Hey, thanks for the info. can someone tell me what a shift angle sensor looks like, and where it might be located ? I have checked all the connections that I have found in the wiring harness, I've even greased them, they all look good and bright except for the 15 amp fuse recepticle. I cleaned it up and greased it also.
The 15 amp fuse and the 30 amp fuse was NOT blown.
If someone could send me a a copy of a wiring schematic (diagram) of a 2003 250 ES Recon, I would be very greatfull. My daughter is driving me nuts to get it running.
I really appreciate all the good info you guys have given me.
Thanks,
hogtide

While setting on the unit, left side front lower engine. There is a tin shield covering it. The shield is kind of a pain to remove. This sensor is most likely the problem

Hey guys, Thanks a bunch, Gimpster was right on, the sensor was the culprit. I replaced it and I now have it back to throwing dirt and making a young girl very happy.
I really appreciate your advise and technical knowledge.
Thanks again,
Larry
