These machines are apples and oranges. That 450 engine is way more high tech than the old school 700. There is a replacement for displacement! The 450 also has a way more favorable weight/power ratio as well.
The 700 is a huge clumsy 500+ pound tank, and the 450 is a 350 pound firefly! I have buddies who have both (and I have ridden both quite a bit). Avoid the 700...nothing very "sport quad" about it! All it really is is a 2wd utility....and you already have a utility so why get another one that isn't even 4wd????
The 450 is a nice machine, but I don't think it is the "magic carpet" that all the magazines are claiming it is. Of all the 450s its engine is the most "luggable" though, so it might have some trail quad potential. But for me, I ride my 450 in open desert, and the Honda is superb in that venue.
We had my buddies KFX450 and my new Rancher 420 (both fuel injected) up at over 11,000' last weeked, to test out how the FI did at altitude. Both did great, but he went through 2 tanks of fuel, while I only used 1/4 tank.
