I don't think you will go wrong with the Honda TRX90 or the Suzuki LT80. They are both reliable and price is about the same, although I think the Honda will be slightly higher. They have slight differences: Honda is 4 stroke and auto clutch, manual shift. The Suzuki is 2 stroke and automatic transmission. I think size and suspension is close but the Suzuki has a different set-up in the rear. I believe the swing arm hindges in front of the motor so the motor moves up and down with the rear wheels. Not that it is a bad setup, just alittle unorthodox.
I would think the Honda would have a slight advantage on the rear suspension due to unsprung weight although the issue may be academic.
You will have more maintenace with the Suzuki with the 2 stroke although that may be way down the road as kids usually don't beat quad like teens or adults. The Suzuki motor is more difficult to work on because you have to remove more parts to get to it and I hear it is a job just to clean the air filter.
I would think the Honda is slightly faster on the top end but quicker off the line might go to the Suzuki.
Check out both at the dealers and you may also look into the Yamaha Badger and Breeze. Depending on your brothers size and maturity level, the Yamahas may be better if he is large for his age.
I am partial to Honda as the 90 engine design has been in use since the 60's I believe and are bullet-proof. Not to say there is anything wrong with the Suzuki or Yamahas.
I would buy the Honda again without question, but I hope owners of the other makes will respond and shed light on their particular likes/dislikes of the other quads. Which ever one you choose you won't go wrong. Please make sure your brother wears all the necessary protective gear and have fun....

Great little quad. The only downside is its a pull start & no electric start. Good power & reliability. The downside is cost unless you get a deal on it.
I would look for a new or used Yamaha Breeze, its a 4 stroke 125cc. It will take longer to outgrow this quad plus, it has racks, reverse & a light.

I have a 12 year old little brother too and I am trying to talk him into the 90 also. The 90 is much easier to ride and much more reliable since it is a 4-stroke.The suspension and handling are also good.Or if he wanted something else the Breeze would be a good choice unless he rides real hard.

Hey i have a 1989 suzuki LT125 and it is very reliable. The bad parts about it is no suspension, and pull start. But it is so reliable. It sat for 6 months (i only use it to plow snow) and started on the third pull. I was amazed. It is for sale if anyone wants to buy it. But I won't let it go for less than $1400 blade included.

My 9 year old son rides a TRX90. He has a friend with a LT80. Side by side the 90 is larger. LT80 is quicker off the start but the TRX will catch up and pass it. From test reports, the TRX is better in the woods, LT80 is better on sand. Either is a good quad but the larger size of the TRX will let it last longer. Electric start is not available on the Honda, but it starts within 2-4 pulls, even after sitting for a month. New TRX costs about $200 mort than LT but used $$$ are about the same. Both have front/rear hand/foot brakes. LT is auto while TRX is clutchless 4-speed, that could be a factor if he can't learn to shift.
