hard to choose need help between 05 300ex and 04 polaris scrambler
hey i am looking into buying a atv, i am 15 years old and want a atv that i can breeze through trails a lil jumps and go through a tiny bit of snow.
some one is selling a honda 300ex for 1600 he said it is 2005 but kinda seemed like he wasnt really sure, he is gonna let me test drive it, how do i check the year of the atv and where would it show you on a honda 300ex
specs electrec start,5 gear manual,4 stroke,300cc,reverse
Also some one is selling a 04 polaris scrambler for 3000 or best offer the atv looks really nice but is alot of money for me but i was wondering would this atv been pushed hard on if he says it has new mud tires and new chain and sprocket with small tear in sear
im new at atvs i know how to shift on 300ex since the pattern is same as my brothers blaster
if i go to his house what should i look at, and how do i look at the compression and how should it sound , we brought the blaster of him hes 17 and into dirt biking now and i dont think he knows that how much they are worth and just wants money.
give me tips what to look at and what not to.. thnx

I own both of these machines...
96 scrambler 400 4x4
99 300ex,
my EX has a cobra header/exhaust, and a jett'd carb
Scrambler, is bored .040 over, weisco piston, stock everything else.
I am assuming you mean the scrambler 500 4x4, which should be about as quick as the 400 2-stroke.
My 400 would destroy a 300 ex any day in a drag race, and top speed, and any kind of accell..
the 300 might take the cake when the trails get really tight and twisty, and i find i can go over rocks and obsticles
on the trail with less grief than the scrambler, by this i mean it soaks up the bumps better (but my front scrambler shocks need replacing)
300 ex is great
a new 500 scrambler would probably be worth the money, its a harder bike to maintain tho
awesome fun to ride
