what octane of gas do you run in it?</end quote></div>
this guy knows what hes talkin bout
try a higher octane gas because i see that you have a piston in your machine if its a high compression piston then use a 91 or higher octane

there are lots of things that can make an egine knock. changing the grade of gas is about the easiest thing to try first. if you've replaced all the timing components and adjusted all your valves it maybe time for a tear down of the topend. i've only seen it a couple of times on older motors (small block chevys) sometimes a peice of carbon from the combustion chamber comes loose and keeps getting hammered between the piston and combustion chamber. it sounds like a rod knocking only instead of coming from the bottom of the motor it comes from the head. i'd say tear it down, check all your clearences, and get a valve job.

my 97 300ex started doing that after i took the engine out to fix a crack even with the ticking it still runs strong.i think its the values because it gets fastier as the rpms go up but after half way to peak rpms you cant hear it over the exhaust.
