250EX

the 250ex is a very good quad that uses basically the same engine with 10% more power and is 42lbs lighter...the longitudinally mounted engime makes for a straight power delivery without 90 degree bending(as with the recon)..i dont own one but the shaft drive,4stroke engine, and light weight makes for a great and very Reliable quad.

EZErriicc. I too had a Recon, which I sold when I discovered they were making the 250ex. But, I got impatient waiting for them to come out, so I bought a new 300ex. Wow, what a difference in ride. My Recon was nice, but the 300ex beats it in every catagory that I can think of. If you do a lot of trail riding and want something with awesome suspension and great handling, think about the 300ex too. I am sure the 250ex is a great bike and the reviews were great, but try out the 300 and 400 before you buy.

I have been considering the 300EX...the only concerns i have are:
-manual clutch
-ground clearance
-reverse procedure
I have never operated a hand clutch on an atv, dirt bike, or whatever...Is it that hard? I've ridden atv's all my life and I would consider myself a very good rider but I just haven't been on many sport quads...how much ground clearance does it have? Will i bottom out easily on the rear end and hit the sprocket? I know that the reverse procedure is pretty complicated, but with that one kit it makes it really easy...That would be a quick fix...i will definitely consider the 300ex..
