Excellent fun machine. High quality and it will run forever, but it has its limits. It is based on the utility Recon, and has shaft drive. This gives it quite good ground clearance, but this design limits the amount of suspension travel, so it isn't the hot machine for busting big desert whoops....but it does well in most terrain at trail riding speed. And, it's only a 250, so don't expect it to be a speed demon.
Also, check out the new Yamaha 250. It is chain drive and considerably lighter than the EX, and looks (on paper) like it will be an excellent addition to the machines in this class.

The 300EX is a good choice in this class as well. Better suspension and power than the 250EX, but more money as well.
I loved my Blaster, but it did have some quality problems....every weld on the swingarm cracked! Was sorry to see this light little quad go. Always thought it was a great "play" quad, but never felt it was a good choice for any hard core cross country riding, particularly in the desert where I ride. Hopefully, the 4-storke Raptor 250 will take up where the Blaster left off.......

In the 250 class I would deffinately stick with the honda, the shaft drive is almost trouble free very little maintenance required, as opposed to chain drive. The little honda engine is well proven to take a lot of abuse and keep right on running.
And I have ridden both hondas and yamahas and the hondas are much better handling in the trails.
