I haven't been luckly enough to eat any lately. My diet for the last couple of weeks has been snow. Fun but not the same, weekend looking good for mud. Math Problem for the day: "Snow + upper 40's = MUD BABY!"

When I say hurt the quad, it could bust the plastic, bend the metal supports for the fenders or break off a lever. My truck sits high enough that if it rolled off onto its side it could do some damage. But that was the first time it had done that in the past year and I think it was because of ice on the boards. I have seen people push them up but I would rather ride mine up. You finish off the day with one last tiny thrill or at least it is with the height of my truck and the torque of my 400EX in first gear. But I am a little weird. I never want to quit riding so the little things count LOL! Congrats on the upcoming license, getting the proper atv hauler and being into the greatest sport ever!!!! Angelon400ex

PS. My boards are on the short side too. They are probably about 6 1/2 ft making them an even steeper ramp. Angelon400ex

I am probably doing more dust this weekend in NC---no forecast of rain. Dust and mud on the motorcross track next weekend and maybe snow in WV the third weekend this month. I guess you can tell I love this sport huh?? angelon400ex

If you want to just crawl up the planks, than just hammer old roofing shingles to them for extra gip in the wet or snow.Just make sure you use roofing nails no longer than an inch and a half long.

When you're in top shape, ramps aren't risky business...BUT I doubt of my abilities to load my shee right up to the bed of the Ranger (not had the opportunity to do it yet -truck since Christmas, snow is falling, and sled is in pieces). Another thing that will make me have a winch to load the quad is "will it work?" Maybe I'll destroy the engine, and pushing a quad up there is the worst thing is the world...actually no, the worst is pushing a snowmobile (what a pain). Anyway, I'll probably do like all the "inconscious" people, grab some air, and land in the bed of the truck, and when I'm tired, winch it up. Attaching the ramps to the tailgate is one good thing!..and checking the cables that hold you tailgate also.

Angelon400ex, you're right. Dodge Ram's have so much ground clearance, it's mind-boggling. I swear, if you put that truck in low gear, you could drive right over traffic...as if you haven't had the urge already. =P I think I will probably go with a trailer setup because dad already has an SUV and I have two quads (my brother and I both ride a lot). The only problem is, does anyone know of any ATV trails? I live in NJ, and I have been looking like crazy all over the Internet for some ATV parks or something, but I haven't found ANYTHING. =( Help, please!

I would just pick mine up but I have a ranger too. If wheel wells were wider it wouldn't be any problem. I have some oxlite ramps and you just have to make sure you give it enough gas to go over the wheel wells.

well, since losing half my right knee cap using an improper ramp , several years ago, I no longer ride mine in.
I use a bifold aluminum ramp, and simply walk my 4x4 Rancher into the
truck. It pulls itsself in quite nicely. And i must add the orange Rancher looks rather cool in my black Ford STX.

I have also been using the short 2x6's to load up in my full size Dodge 4x4. I usually back up 'em so I can close the tailgate. And I haven't been afraid of it until they got icey. This weekend.

I went to loadup, and thought about the 800 pound beast falling on me from 3 feet. I went and bought some trifold ramps. I think it's a well spent $129.00.

And MrElussive, your only 17. Your not SUPPOSE to be afraid. Get close to 40, and you'll see a big difference in yourself.
