Vandalized Motors
#1
I have a 2007 90ex, a 2006 Roketa 110, and a 1998 Warrior that have all been recently vandalized. Someone apparently hates me because they must have spent considerable time to drill a hole in the head of all three quads( I can see the valve springs on the little ones), and also one in the case of the warrior. They cut brake lines and the clutch cable. I don't want more damage than I already have, but I'm a single mom and can't really afford to take all three to a shop. Can I drain all the oil and gas get the holes welded and probably assume there wasn't further damage? Without taking the heads off, can I clean it out enough by draining to ensure nothing was poured into them? Please advise me the best you can! Thank you so much!

Welcome to the forums, and sorry to hear about your vandalism. Do you have home owner's insurance or renter's insurance that might cover them?
I presume that the hole is just into the valve cover? If so, perhaps you can look through the caps to make sure nothing was poured inside, and clean any drill chips out...

Thank you for your response and advice. I've tried the best I can to look in the holes and can't see anything in them....so I'll take the caps off and see what I can see on the little ones. I'm not real worried about the warrior b/c they didn't make it all the way through the head, and I figure draining the case will solve it's issues and it's an easier weld. Homeowner's claims that the quads have to have their own insurance policies and aren't covered even though they were in my garage when it happened. Ever heard anything different on that?

Sorry to hear about your experience.
Some homeowners policies will not cover atv/mowers and other items, but I've heard it was if they were kept in a separate shed or garage. If the garage is attached to the house, then it may be covered. But I'm not a insurance agent or specialists, so don't take that as the gospel.
Did you talk to just your local agent, or someone at a call center?
I think you might want to make a few more phone calls, possibly including a new agent.
Good luck on getting them running again.
