Our 06 250ex makes a tapping noise at idle, but only when cold. After the bike warms up or when you rev the engine the noise goes away. The noise sounds like it's coming from the valve train area. Anyone know what it might be? Maybe the valves are out of adjustment?
Thanks

Have you ever done a valve adjustment??? Your hunch is probably right....
If you read your owner's manual, it calls for one at 20 hours (just after it is good and broken in). Most folks NEVER do a valve adjustment at 20 hrs., much less any other time in the quads (shortened) lifetime.

Recon thanks for the reply.
It's been about a year since the first valve adjustment. However since my daughter is the primary rider of this quad I'm tinking there probably out of adjustment. Even though I've told her she has to change gears when the engine revs up, I have a feeling she's just reving it out in second gear. Would consitantly higher reving cause them to go out of adjustment quicker than normal?
