Default Power steering problem

Problem is..it seems the power steering is draining the battery.
With lights on and with pressure on the power steering .. i'm only getting 11.5 to 12 volts.
With the p/steering fuse out .. charging is normal.
With lights / gearshift / power steering it can drop to 9.5 volts.Even the back light flickers.
Leads are good. Battery is good (Yuasa 14). Rectifier good. Earths good.
Power steering unit ?? not checked.
I'd appreciate any help 'cos I'm out of ideas.
please don't suggest a dealer.
But a telephone number for Honda technical would be useful.

By the way - I've ridden every Honda ATV (and a fair few of their bikes) but the power steering on these are the way to go --- when they are working!!!

When you say with P/S fuse out, charging is normal- what kind of voltage to you get idling and reved up?

When you are getting 11.5 to 12 volts while applying pressure to the steering, is that at idle or reved up?

Has the battery been going dead during normal use?

11.5 to 12 revved up. that is with a lean onto the steering, and lights.

I presume it's under warranty? If so, may as well make the dealer fix it.

I haven't heard of this problem before, and although I don't know how many amps the power steering system is supposed to draw, I suspect it is pretty significant.

Problem is it is here in Ireland. And sure it draws a lot of power - 40 fuse in a separate holder. Everything dims - with p/s.
Thanks for interest.
Anyone a phone number direct for Honda Technical?
