I think I have decided to go with the PRM skidplate for my Rancher, from reading the reviews. I was wandering if I should get the A-arm guards with it also. It looks like a stick could poke a hole in a CV boot possibly. If anyone has used them , please let me know how they worked.

I was going to go with the same skidplate, but later decided to go with the Armordillo skid plate from ATV charley's. However for CV boot covers I did away with the stock and went with cycle country's steel ones. They are super nice looking and cover from both sides up (front and back side of a-arm) about 3 inches. Also are already painted black and that was a plus.

I have used their products before and they are pretty good for a small outfit like PRM. I think that the odds of a boot being broken from the bottom are pretty remote, but it's really insurance against it since a boot broken out in the sticks could be a cv joint replacement by the time you got it back to the truck. It also would help (if only to a small degree) with traversing mud since it would allow the A-arms to glide over the mud along with the skid plate. On a related note, I do find it a little disheartning to see that PRM has raised their prices so much over the last couple of years. They used to be a true bargain compared to DG or other big name manufacturers, but now they are priced in the same range as some of them. In 1998 a full skid plate from them was $65.95 and a DG was approx. $95-110. A-arm guards were $43.95 from PRM. Now PRM gets $56.95 for A-arm guards and $90.00 for a skid plate when the others are charging around the same thing they were in 1998. Still a good product, I just think PRM has gotten a little greedy.

When I bought my Rancher the first accessory I asked about was the cv joint guards. I got the Ox-lite ones that the dealer carried. I think they were 49.95 with the dealer installing them. If I could only buy one accessory for any quad it would be the steel cv joint guards. From what I've seen all the different manufacturers build them pretty much the same. They're pretty basic. I think any brand will do a good job, just make sure you get one of them and do away with the factory plastic trash.

Dont rule out the AP Stick Guards from www.aluminumproducts.com. Like $40 with shipping and are thick aluminum. They look awesome!
