Default Wont start... 01 400ex

I have an 01 400ex. It ran fine, and I put it in storage. I have not started it in about 3 months. So I went today and installed a new battery, but I cannot get my bike to start. I have not done anything to it, and the bike ran fine before I put it in storage. I drained the bowl off of the carb, and still wont start. Any ideas as to what I can do to get my bike up and running again? I also did not check to see if it had fire. Sitting in a secure storage would not do anything to the coil would it?

Most probable cause for your 400 not starting is a plugged pilot jet. So pull float bowl cover and clean out pilot jet. Blow pilot out with air or carb cleaner, do not try and clean with wire. Then replace all gas in tank with fresh. In future you should turn off petcock and run carb dry before sitting more than a few weeks.

I would try and replace the old fuel with new. Fuel volatility is lost surprisingly fast. Also if that doesn't work try a new spark plug. It worked for me my honda was sitting for about 3 weeks and i couldn't start the thing. i just added fresh fuel and a new plug and i was set.

I would definitely replace the spark plug as my very first step.

first, change the plug. second, put in a 42 pilot jet. when it is cold pump the gas a couple times before trying to start it. dont' pump it too many times though or you may flood it.
