axle bearing on 95 300ex
#1
to make a long story short, i'm reasonably my axle bearing has essentially burned up. There is an excessive amount of play in the rear axle; up and down, and left to right(about 1/4 inch give or take). Is there any way to adjust the bearing to get rid of the play? we tried to adjust the nut to the right of the brake rotor which made it a little better, but not much.
Now what i really need to know is what is involved in changing this bearing, and about how much will it cost?
and there is a bolt on the bottom of the axle housing(i guess that what you would call it) that looks like a drain plug, what is this for? and are you supposed to keep some sort of grease or oil inside that housing, because it is without a doubt water that damaged that bearing.
thanks in advance
