starter motors

Default starter motors

should a starter motors turn freely? my bike is torn down and when i turn the gear is spins freely. not exacly freely a bit tighter than freely. im having trouble starting the bike the selenoid is clicking and nothing from the starter. if anyone has a 400ex starter let me know.

Default starter motors

Some times it will help to tap a starter with a hammer. The brushes in the motor will get stuckand need vibrated down on to the armature. Hope this helps.

Did you try appling 12 volts directly to the starter, with jumper cables? That will let you know if the starter is good or not.
If the starter spins, by jumping it directly, then focus on corroded or loose battery connections, and get the battery load tested.
