Default Honda 300 4X4 help

A week ago I let my brother borrow my 1988 Honda 300 4X4 to go hunting. Well he went and when he got back it was raining, and he didn't take the quad off of the trailer for a day or two. I went to ride it today and it wouldn't start unless I had the choke all the way on and had the throttlwe half-way down. I had to let it warm for 20min. until I could take the choke off. When I took the choke off it would idle for about 10seconds and then die. I finally got it running good enough and rode for a while, and when I got back and went to turn around to back into the shed, it started idling faster and backed into the garage. Before my brother took it I made him swear thqat he wouldn't mess with the idle, and he said he didn't, but it's not running right now. What is wrong with it? thanks in advance

It may have picked up a piece of something out of the gas tank that got stuck in the idle circuit, probably the emulsion tube (the piece with all the small holes). Try cleaning the carb, it'll probably fix it. If not, kick your brothers butt til it resides somewhere over his head.
