is the 400ex really the best choice?

i was tossin up the idea of puting a 350x engine into a 250x frame with all the nessisary streching of the dementions (a-arms, axle, swing arm) how is the power? there is a 350x engine forsale in the paper here for $1500 that is built to 500cc! i bet that would be a bear to start, but worth the trouble. what are your opinions? going with a stock 350x or otherwise...

I think a 350 made to go 500 cc's would put the Honda reputation for reliability right down the tubes. How could it be even close to reliable when the cylinder walls are paper thin? I don't even know if a single cylinder 350 can go 500 cc's?
Get the 400ex and have fun every weekend, not a can of worms.

after you add in all the cost of aftermarket parts ( a-arms, axle, swingarm, shocks, finding someone to build you a custom exhaust, etc) you'll be better off with the 400ex. their is alot of aftermarket parts for the 400ex to make it run alot faster and stronger without losing any of the reliabiliy. Dirt Wheels did a 454cc 350x motor in a 250x frame. The frame and chassis couldn't handle the power. If you want a daily ridable machine, but will still kick some butt when you want it to, then get the 400ex.
