I am assuming you are talking about the trx250ex, it has a top speed of about 50mph.

i own a 2006 250ex and to tell you the truth......i hate it......but hey different strokes for different fokes

it does have very limited travel for a quad its size..due to the shaft drive
and top speed for me is about 53-55 depends on how wind is blowing i know this cuz i have a rancher 350 also with a speedometer and it just barely beats the rancher (i ride side by side with my little brother)

If you're looking for a fast quad, the 250trx should not be the choice. This a beginner quad for small folk and kids. Good starter quad but limited suspension, short wheel base and no clutch compression makes it a limited perfromance vehicle.

Like recon said, I wouldn't want to go 50 on that thing!

My cousin just picked up an 08 for his 11 year old. It is great! Like Redhornet stated, it is a great quad for kids. Some people think it is way too big, but he seems to be doing just fine. I helped modify the throttle on the bars. Installed a set screw to allow adjustment of max throttle. Toned it down quite a bit! Allows some room for growth.

I got an 07 250ex and i like it. on a trail it can keep up with anyone else your just gonna have a bit rougher ride than the bigger bikes. It is especially good for kids like everone is saying and i have to say the sport clutch is quite a trick. but one downside to it is to my knowledge the after market world is kinda limited.

i have a 06 250ex also and i hate it.....i loved it when i was ten and was my first quad but once i got experienced it sucked.....hittin 50 was not scary or nothin it handled fine!!!!! as for jumping and turning at speed this thing did niether......the sport clutch is no way to learn if you ask me......it does no good of teaching for like redhornet said it has no compression......it really makes me mad how sorry the 250s are these days....they have sorry suspention and power other then the rapter 250........though i have heard word that every major manufacture has a proto-type 250 with there high-performance
dirtbike 250 engines in them...... those will be what we kids should learn off of with a throttle limitter then you wont have to buy them a new quad the next year because they want faster and better suspention because the latest 250s have hardly any hop-up potential besides the new rappy 250, all the 250s are a discrace to the sportsquad world........word is the trx250r(4-stroke) will put close to 28-33 ponies
