1992 Honda 250x ATV. Can someone tell me what the **** is with teeth on it in front of the gear shifter on the motor? That is the best way I can describe it. It appears something was there before. Some kinds of shifter. Just got this thing and dont know much about it. Wish I could post a pic. Would be easier.

ok ty. It came with nerf bars. I took the gear lever off to touch it up. I put it back on where it was when it had nerf bars on it cause I took them off.

 

It could be for the reverse.Does your reverse work?

 

Thats what I am thinking. I am attempting to put the reverse back on. Have no idea where to start though.

 

It's for reverse. There's a linkage that runs from it up to just above the crankcase where the lever mounts.

Go to a site with microfiche like ronnies.com or servicehonda and look it up. On Ronnie's the reverse lever is in the "STEP 91-92" detail section.
