Hello I am looking to purchase some aftermarket skid plates for my 400ex & I was wondering if people could give honest evaluations on different brands they have seen or used. Obviously most important to me is protection but fit and finish are almost as equally important. Are the A-arm skids worth the money ?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

These people make a well fitting and reasonably priced stuff, check them out. I bought A-arm, belly, and swing arm skids for my son's EX400 and they all have skuffs and dings in them. Well worth the money. As far as the A-arm gaurding if you don't trail ride and only play in the sand you probably don't need them. The others are a must. Hope this helps you.

I have had several different brands of skids. I had AC chassis and swingarm skids and didnt like them at all. Cheaply made and they didnt fit very well either. I now have a DG chassis skid and a OMF swingarm skid. I like them much better. I also had a DG swingarm skid. It was a quality piece but they way it was designed it took away alot of clearance which is so critical under your swingarm. As far as a-arm skids, I dont think they are necessary. I ride in some very rough and rocky terrain in West Virginia and have never taken a serious hit to my a-arm. Hope this helps.

I have had a few different brands of swingarm skids and by far I prefer the Armadillo brand. It is a full .250 thick and is impossible to bend. I ride in very rocky terrain and have bent up weaker units but not even close to hurting the Armadillo. Rocky mountain sells them and they are cheaper than allot of other brands.

I'VE HAD AC, NO GOOD. NOW I HAVE DG AND THEY HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB. I ALSO SUGGEST THE A-ARM GUARDS IF YOU WOODS RIDE WITH HEAVY ROCKS. I LIKE HAVING THE PIECE OF MIND I DON'T HAVE TO TRY TO DODGE EVERY ROCK OUT THERE.

Would you mind sending me an email some day to say how you like the prm swingarm skid. I'm tired of straightening my dg with a 3lb sledge. It's also too low to the ground!
