If I wanted to put in a 426 kit the piston rings and all that do i need anything else? or will it run fine with the stock cam and everything?? on a 400ex

 

It will run fine, but it wont be much faster than what you have now. My buddy had a 426ex, +1mm valves, lightened fly wheel, 12:1 compression, web cam, port and polish. It was a runner.

Doing just 1 motor mod will only gain a little by itself, but added with other mods they intern gain more by being complemented by the other mods. See where im going?

 

well here's the thing... I am looking to buy this quad off a guy locally for a good deal... The top end is already apart but he's movin and has to sell quick... so the top end needs to be rebuilt and I am thinking about doing the 426 and either stage 1 or stage 2 hot cam....

Do you have any tips to check when looking to see if the bottom end is still good... it looked good but how would you check? also same questions for the head and rockers....?

my wheeler doesnt have rockers etc. so maybe buy a 400ex shop manual, there should be tolerances listed in there that u can test. for bottem end... never had mine apart, there should be some tell tale signs of a bad bottem end, locked up etc.
