Replacement Tires ?
#1
I have an '05 Rancher and an '04 Recon. Both still have the original OEM tires that came on them when purchased. No, neither bike has been ridden a whole lot.
What would be a good replacement tire? We ride mostly wooded trails and gravel roads. Doubt if we'd regularly go through mud or deep water. What would you recommend? What about number of ply's? Is that particularly important for low inflation tires?
Another question, where might I get some factory type (OEM) wheels for these ATVs? They look nice, but I'm really not interested in chromed fancy wheels - just the plain ones like those that came with the ATVs. I think I'd go ahead and save a few of the originals as spares.
Thanks

For the Rancher, I would suggest the ITP Holeshot ATR radials, on the indestructible (and less expensive than alluminum) ITP 12X7" Delta steel wheels. I would go with the 25" tires, not the 26" are to big for the little Rancher. The tires are wider than stock and the rims have a greater offset, so you will end up a little bit wider for a nice increase in cornering stability!
These will greatly improve the handling of your machine! They are a good all-around tire (especially good in deep snow). The front tires are absolutely superb, and will improve your performance in 4wd. With the wider offset rims, you may pick up a little bump steer now and then and it may fight you a little in 4wd, but the tradeoff is worth it.
I stuck with the stock tires/rims on my Recon, and never regretted it! The are well matched to that machine.
