Default 400ex twist throttle

I rode at a local track on saturday. It was my first time ever on a track and it was pretty demanding. As the day went on I couldn't stay out thare for more than 5 or so laps. My hand cramped up so bad that I couldnt stay out for very long. I adjusted the position of my throttle numerous times throughout the day and it never helped. Now, I have had this problem on trails from time to time, but didn't think anything of it, but never realized it would be like that on a track.

I searched these forums for opinions on converting to a twist throttle, and it seems that people either love them or hate them.

I found conversions from anywhere between 20 and 40 bucks, so if I don't like it won't be too big of a waste of money.

So, do you guys think I should try it out, or just quit being a faget and get over the pain? Will this fatigue go away if I continue to ride tracks, and condition my hand? Is there any excersice I can do to strengthen my hand?

Thanks in advance for any opinions!

Two of my buddies (with long time dirt/street bike experience) put twisters on, but didn't keep them for very long. They said the changing angle of the bars had them blipping the throtle at all the wrong moments....

Much like shooting, it is a matter of hand and forearm strength. If you google "hand exercise" (not to be confused with "hand party"-Borat fans will get this) you will find numerous exercises and gadgets that will strenghten your hands.

I have considered switching mine too, I spend much more time on my street bike then on my quad. I figured it would just be more natural for me.
I like the dual gasser by moose, but it's a bit pricey. I don't think a twist throttle is worth $150. But, my quad is just a toy that I might get out on a weekend. I'm not into racing it or anything like that. That's what my RC is for.

Thanks all,
You guys all had some good points, and a little haha in there, (jsgregg)! I think I'm just going to try one out and see for myself. And try to strengthen my hand up some, in case the thumb goes back on!

Also, I read a post when I searched originally, and one dude said those combos were either one or the other. He said in the fine print of the one he looked at, don't know what brand he said, it said that it easily converts in minutes. I would probably pay 150 if it converted on the fly and not have to pull back in the pits and break out the tools.
