Stand on end
#1
I want to stand my '05 Rubicon on end (back rack) in order to install a skid plate. Do I need to be concerned about leaking gas/fluids when it's in the upright position?
Any suggestions on how to raise the quad, I don't have access to a hoist?

You will want to turn the fuel valve off. I just put the brake on so there is resistance from the back wheels, then lift the front end up. Doesn't hurt to have a friend there as a spotter!
When you put it back down, give is a few minutes for the oil to drain back to where it is supposed to be before you strat it up.

You may also want to crimp the hose on the gas cap to prevent leaks there. I recently installed a Ricochet skid plate on mine and instead of standing it on end I just worked under the atv. It was a little difficult in some areas, but for the most part it wasn't that bad.

Coincidentally , I happened to ask the same question at a Honda dealer when I had my Rancher in for factory recall work (tie rod ends) last week. Service manager said to close the fuel valve, and pinch off the fuel tank vent. He also suggested having some help when standing the ATV up on end - probably a good idea since the Rancher weighs >500 lbs!
