Default 86 trx top end noise

I just bought an 86 trx 350. The top end is noisey and gets louder as the engine worms up. Dose anybody have the vavle clearence specs for that engine? I have looked all over the internet for them untill I came across this site. Any other info would be great.

I got a box of "GODDIES" with the bike...
2 used head gaskets
1 used timming chain, cam gear, chain guides
2 burnt valves, springs, keepers
1 starter gear 1 way clutch (not sure of the name)

Thanks
Brad

The valve clearances are ==== 0.08 mm (0.003 in) for both intake & exhaust ..

if it gets noisy when warm, its normally just loose valves, put em at .007 and your good. If its a knocking noise then your not good. Loose valves sound like a new powerstroke diesel

thanks all I ajusted them to 007 but the noise was still there. So I removed the tentioner to see if that was working and it seemed to, so I put everything back together with the noise still there. today i went for a ride and didn't get to the end of my road when it died. I am going to pull the head cover off tonight to see what is going on. I don't think I droped a valve as the engine whells over thik nothing ( no compression). I think maby the timming chain broke and one set of valves are held open.

Wish me luk that nothing is damaged too badly

Brad
