i have a complete exhaust system, open air box with k&n air filter, and a rev limiter. i still have a hard time beeting the yfz with anything done to it. what mods should i do to help me beat them. i would also like more top end...

I would get a cam. You would be surprised at how easy they are to change...

like i could do it in my garage with just a regular set of tools

Yeah, it's a LOT easier than you think. Do you have a manual for your quad?

Yeah, it's a LOT easier than you think. Do you have a manual for your quad?

It is very easy. Take off the Rear Plastic (6 screws) and the seat. Then remove the gas tank (you'll need to remove 4 screws from front plastic and 2 from the gas tank as well as the straps). Don't forget to turn your gas off and then disconnect the gas line from the tank to the carb. Loosen the two clamps on the carb (1 to the air box and 1 to the motor) in order to get the carbeurator out of your way. Then remove the 3 bolts on top of the motor and pull the cover off and you'll be staring at the Cam/ rocker / springs / timing chain. Remove the 4 bolts and take pressure off the timing chain tensioner to remove the cam (while sliding the timing chain off of the cam gear. Repeat in reverse order to reinstall new cam.
