400ex??
The easiest and cheapest way is just get a gps from a pawn shop. For 35 bucks or so, youll get speedometer, odometer, top speed capture, plus compass, and full gps functions. Plus, if you ever sell...just keep the gps for the next bike. Handlebar mounts are only 15 bucks or so. Ive got one on my 400ex, and its really handy once you get used to it.

Brand isnt important...they all do the same things, so buy by price alone. The garmin etrex line is about as cheap as it gets, they are about 75 bucks new. No sense in having a 500 dollar unit...its just a target for theives, and if it breaks...thats gonna hurt the wallet.
Check out the local pawn shops, and shoot them a low offer...and see what happens. The mounts can be bought at anyplace that sells new gps units, or ebay has them too.
Most gps unit, especially the cheap ones are meant to be easy to use, and in about 5 minutes, youll have it figured out.
