Yeah, thats what I was getting at. I am signed up to take a safety course this weekend. I think it is sponsored by the ATV Safety Institute. The course is free because I just bought the new Rancher...so how did you get them to pay you to go?

hmm, I don't know if it was something just with my dealer or what. but in 2 weeks, I am supposed to receive a check in the mail for $100. Here is the site were I enrolled. Dealer told me that someone would contact me in about 6 weeks but I couldn't wait and did it myself. http://www.atvsafety.org/asi.cfm

I think the deal might be that if you buy a new ATV they pay for the course, but if you buy a new ATV and have no previous ATV experience they pay you to go?
Anyway, carbs these days can be tuned pretty lean, so some require a bit of finesse to fire up in cold weather, or you have to know where the enricher **** is, and how to adjust the friction so it stays pulled out... It also helps to run the float bowl dry if the machine is going to sit for weeks.
Also, considering most of the machines in the class were probably brand new, an engine with rings that aren't yet seated, plus short runs in cold weather (pulling off the trailer and shutting down, or whatever) can foul a plug quickly.

If you know what you are doing, you can run to the nearest radio store and buy some rheostats, wire them in to certain sensors in the fuelie system and make your own map for fuel. Changing timing is another issue though.
Honda has a cheezy fuel injection system that does not remember any sensor readings after the ignition is turned off. It reverts back to the origional map installed in the ECM at the factory when restarting. Like I have been preaching.... Honda cut corners on the cheap fuel injection system in their quads. They have money and technology to make a better system, and they did not do it.

Not picking on you but...
Cold is way under 40 degrees. Let your 420 set outside for 8 hours at below zero farenheit once. My trx450 foreman (carbed) will start at -40 with no choke where the new 420 will not start at 10 below. They will foul plugs at just under 10 degrees.
It does get better than fuel injection.
