Like the place where there is a lane that they put all the powerlines?

 

I DONT KNOW, BUT I KNOW THEY ARE REALLY FUN TO RIDE!!!

 

I'll straight to the point, I have no definate answer. But, from everything I have heard, the powerlines and area within, (i think) 45 ft on either side is owned by the power company, so private landowners cannot restrict acces to the land that they are on. And, I ride powerline trail which are ridden daily by people in my area, and have never heard of anyone getting busted. All I have to say, if their is a no tresspassing sign, STAY THE HELL OUT!

I'd sell my ATVs and get a Harley. At
least I'd have somwhere to ride. I'll
just have to ride my Honda CB900 when
I'm not on my ATVs. I ride a trail
along power lines and the thruway. The
snowmobilers ride it too, no one has
ever chased me. I belong to a club and
I'm trying to get more trails but it's
not easy. A lot of people dislike ATVs
for some reason. The way I see it is
avoid no tresspassing signs but ride
existing trails without tearing them
up, tread lightly, pass it on.

 

where the powerlines are iv never seen any lanes beside them i rode alot of railroad acess lanes to get to some places we have powerlines beside the roads and the only guy i know of that got stopped the cop just told him to ride on the side of the road and let him on his way

Out here there arent lanes either but the power company keeps it all cut down so we just make trails up under the lines.

 

If the power lines are in a legal riding area and it's not posted otherwise, I would say it's legal.

 

I would say that this would come under the "Clinton, don't ask don't tell policy.)

If you ask you will be told "no", for legal liability reasons.

If you don't ask and nobody bothers you keep on keeping on.

Now if the lines run through the Seven County Minneapolis Metropolitan Area
you may be harassed by the local
tree huggers, environmental whackos
and Green Peace/Sierra/Peta members.
You may be running over a rare and endangered prairie fern.

{I won't mention the local boys in blue
with Wyatt Earp syndrome or the DNR of
district 15, and 16 who delight in harassing owners of any device
powered by gasoline.)

NO NO NO NO you cant ride on them unless there are legally marked trails under them or you are in some sort of emergency situation. In a recent Niagra Mowhawk bill(our power company) there was a pamphlet on not to ride on there "right of way" or any land owned by the electric company. This included Snowmobiles, motorbikes, ATV's, and pickups/4x4's. The reason they mow the area underneath is to keep trees from growing under the lines. This goes for the train company too they yell at us for driving near the tracks(like 30 ft. away) because it is an area where tracks used to be and is still under their ownership and could prove to be "liabous" to them. There is also a service road to an old landfill (Can Anyone say LOVE CANAL dump site b) that they say is off limits.

But just because they say and tell us this doesnt stop us from going on the lines,roads or tracks.

Their are huge powerlines on my propery, I can ride under them and around them, no one has ever said stay away from them, there are signs saying DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE on the towers, that's all that is there to caution people.
