2004 450r

Just getting into the whole atv thing so bought a 2004 450r. The atv is awesome only have one prob. When the clutch is in and i stick it in 1st it will actually start moving when i push the accelerator without releasing thr clutch. Tried to ajust the cable makes no diff. Does anybody know wat this could be

Probably just a sticky clutch pack. My 300EX was very fond of doing the same thing.
Wouldn't hurt to replace your clutch, given the age of the machine, but for a quick fix you might try this.....Seeing your transmission oil is seperate from your engine oil, you can easily experiment around with running some different oils. I think if it were me, I would try putting in some Honda HP4M (JASO MB with moly) and go for a short ride that required a lot of clutch work. That should loosen the clutch pack up. Years ago I ran HP4M once by mistake, and it actually never did make my clutch slip, so I don't think it will strand you out on the trail with a slipping clutch or cause any permanent damage.
