ive pushed both to their limits. the 250R is the way to go. may not have the hard hit or the sound of the banshee (which is sweet indeed) but it is a great machine and still the standard of handling to me. 250Rs were designed for competition. rated best in build quality, and best atv, and best used atv soooo many times. when i bought mine it was 17yrs old and on its first rebuild. still going strong and handling great. a banshee does not totally suck on the track but will wear you out much faster and is just happier in more open country. a banshee's seat is softer and i actually like the rear shock (the way mine was valved) but that did not make up for the shortcomings in handling.
never had trouble from any of them, so banshees will last as long as anything else if given proper attention.

250r. i think it is the best 2 stroke ever built. and im a yami owner right now. the frame is so much better than the shee. thats one of the main reason it is so much better on the track. and the shee wieghs a ton for a 2 stroke. it is only 10lb less than my raptor 700 which is a big quad.
