Default 2002 Rubicon tranny issue

When running in D2 my bike doesn't have much power, needs a lot of throttle to get going. In D1 it seems to run OK and in ESP all seems good as well. No error codes of any kind ever. Just is very sluggish in D2. I just changed the oil and filter but no differance.
Any suggestions as to what the problem is???

The D1 mode is for performance, the D2 mode is for towing,or hauling heavy loads (more torque). My 2002 Rubi does the exact same thing, my friends 2004 Rubi is that way also, so I believe it's normal. Don't Worry, I hope this was useful

Cody, you are correct, D1 is for towing and D2 is for just riding around. I have (2) 2002 Ribicon's which I bought new and they always performed the same until recently. The one performs great in all tranny settings and now the other one lays an egg in D2 when trying to get it rolling.
Can't figure out why, even my daughter noticed the big change in performance.

Straight out of the owners manual----D1 mode is for maximum performance---D2 mode is for maximum torque (such as carrying cargo or towing a trailer).
