07 TRX 250 jetting
#1
Has anyone jetted their 07 TRX 250? I recently jetted mine and don't seem to be getting any much performance boost. I am thinking I don't have it tuned quite right. I had to go with the 102 jet because I was getting some sputtering at full throttle with the recommended 106 jet. Any help would be appreciated.

how do I shim the needle? It came with a washer. Should it go above or below the c clip? Also, the kit recommended the 4th slot on the pin. BTW, I got a Moose power up kit with the K&N filter. It seemed to run a little better with the airbox lid off

First of all THANKS for your quick help. This is a better way to ask my question. I will try the smaller jet. THe washer is above the c clip as per the instructions. Does shimming mean lifting the pin up? Can the washer go under the c clip? And, how much does the air/fuel mix effect it?

mine didnt have any c-clip so it had to be shimmed
your just putting and airfilter on if thats it i would just go 1 size bigger on the jet and do nothing to the needle
did your kit come with a key to adjust a/f it should be at 2 1/2 turns

The needle that came with my jet kit has 5 slots for a c clip to slide into. The directions specify which slot according to elevation. Above 5000 and below 3000. I am below 1000! I don't know how much difference elevation makes. When you shimmed your needle, did you put a washer below it?(between it and the top of the slide)OR above it (between it and the plastic retaining ring with the spring?) I am assuming below. This may sound like a dumb question but does a smaller number (on the jet) mean a larger jet? for example, my instructions told me to install the jet #106. I was having symptoms of running too rich. so I switched to the jet #102. It solved the richness(flat spot at full throttle). But it does not seem like the performance was effected very much at all.
yes it did come with a tool to adjust the a/f mix. and 2 1/2 turns it is. I was wondering if that because I am so low in elevation that this might not be an accurate setting??? I am going to try the #098 today (no 97.5 in my kit)and see what happens!

You either jet for the lid on or off. Your not going to see any power increae without adding more air and more gas. I stay away from Jet kits and just get OEM jet from your dealers parts counter. If I remember right it took a 112 main jet to get her running right. Just remember it's a 250 and your never going to get her to run like a 400.
