Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and to ATV's. I've never owned an ATV in my life. I am going to purchase a new or used honda 300 fourtrax 2x4. I can get one used with "low hours" for $3400-3600 99-00. I can get one new for $4300 not including tax. Looks like around an $800 difference. I am not rich so I want the best deal possible. Do yall think its worth the extra money for a new ATV? I don't want to buy a ragged ATV that has been abused and have it tear up soon after a buy it. Do the new 99-00 300's have a mileage or hrs gage on them? If so how easy can these be tampered with? I know that there are good ATV's used for sale. Do you thinks its worth it to buy new? I've heard that the cheapest fourwheelers are sold in mississipi. Where is this places and how much cheaper are the ATV's. I live in GA. Thanks allot. Jeff

The place you are looking for is Lake Hills Motors in Corinth, Miss. The website address is www.yamahadiscountprices.com. The new (2000-2001) models are the 350 Ranchers that replaced the old but very reliable 300. The rancher is a much better machine and having ridden both I am sure that you would agree. I also think the resale and ease of which you could resale a Rancher makes it a better investment than the TRX300.

2000 was the last year of the 300. After 12 years Honda retired the 300. So when you say new I assume you mean less than 2 years old because they don't make the 300 anymore. I agree with Shumdit if you can afford it get a Rancher. Don't get me wrong I am a huge 300 fan. I believe pound for pound the the 300 was the best ATV ever made. But now you can get more power and more ground clearence from a Rancher. However, if you can get a good deal on a fairly young 300 ( 3 to 4 years old ), don't hesitate. I assure you there is many many more miles and years left in that ATV. My 300 will turn 11 years old in April of this year and it is still going strong. Either way you can't go wrong.

i owened an 88 3004trx 4x4 back in 96. i loved it i had it heated up 3 times in one that that it wouldn t even run anymore. im not saying thats easy to do.i was doing hill's draging and kepted it pined most of the time. and you can check with anyone that knows what there talking about in the lest they have the best over all track recored of any atv.....ever the only part i didn t care for was its short shock travel. but you would never have to worry that your not gonna make it home on the 300. the rancher is also a sweet quad with more power and will most likely not be cut from the line for years to come. and i haven t heard anything bad about it iv rode one in the woods i like it.
just another quad nut
