250EX upgrades...
#1
Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum but no where new to riding. I've had my '02 250EX for just over a year. Great little machine. I just mounted some new tires and have a craving for more power. I've done some searching around on here and noticed the most common things were pipe, air filter and jet kit. So I started looking around online and came across what I think to be a good site, www.mods3.com. So I started searching and i came across the options they have for the 250EX. I found what they call "Evo X Big Gun Power Kit." It comes with a complete Big Gun Evo X system, K&N Air Filter, Jet Kit and a Rev Box. Link....
Evo X Big Gun Power Kit
Here are some of the questions that I have come up with...
Either I've never hit the rev limiter on my quad or it doesn't have one, which is it?
Will this kit work with ALL the 250EX models? (May need to contact them about this question.)
Let me know what you guys think, I really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

My experience is that a K&N will pass dirt! I suggest a UNI foam air filter, vent the airbox lid with some of those UNI round vents, an FMF PowerCore 4 muffler, and a rejet.

That's what I've heard also. I guess I'll just buy it all separate then.

How does the Curtis Sparks pipe relate to the Big Gun? Does my machine even have a rev box? And i never thought about just getting jets from the dealer, good idea!

theres a pic of my kids on there
you also have a revbox ...look under the left fender and you should see it
the rev limit is so low on the 250ex it will help a lot
and as far as airfilters its up to you.....uni and k&n are both good filters but the stock is also a good filter

The trouble with the stock air filter is that you are stuck with that restrictive metal wire insert. The UNI has its own plastic cage that isn't restrictive, plus you can get air through the end of the filter as well. It passes more air than the stocker, yet has a margin of safety that a K&N doesn't have.

I'll look into the Curtis Sparks pipe. I'm almost posative I don't have a rev box but I'll look when i get home. I've reved my quad pretty high and never heard it cut out.

I was talking with he local dealer and he said the same thing. He's seen K&N let in large amounts of dirt. He suggest to go with the UNI.
And just to clerify, I have 2002 250EX. I now around 2006-2007 they changed the 250EX.
