PLEASE HELP!!!

I sent you a PM with a link, with complete directions and photos (I'm not sure if we are allowed to post links to threads from other forums).
Anyway, the gist of it is...
Do the valve inspection when the engine is cold. Take the tank and stuff off so you have access to the top of the head. Remove the valve access cover.
Remove the inspection plug on the side of the motor, and turn the crank slowly with the pull starter until a T appears in the window. It may be easier to do this if you remove the spark plug (blow any dirt off the top of the head first, so it doesn't fall in), or turn the motor very slowly.
The T in the window indicates the piston is Top Dead Center, but you need to make sure it is TDC between compression and power stroke where the valves are fully closed, and not TDC between the exhaust and intake stroke, where the valves are slightly open in the overlap phase.
The easiest way to do this is wiggle the rocker arms. If both have play, you are ready to check them. If both are tight, you need to rotate the motor one more turn until the T is back, and there should then be play in both intake and exhaust rockers.
Use a .006" feeler gauge, and get it straight in the gap between the valve and rocker. It should slide in with slight resistance. If one needs adjusted, hold the adjusting screw with a screw driver, while loosening the lock nut. Recheck the gap after you've tightened the lock nut. You can be .001 + or -.001.
