Help with riding locations in Southern Calif.

In the high desert (near Victorville), there are several BLM open areas-check out www.ca.blm.gov. The San Bernardino Mtns. have some roads and trails (they have a "closed unless posted open" policy)-contact the Big Bear Forest service Visitors Center for maps (good place to ride in Summer, when the deserts are TOO HOT). Beaumont where the I-60 and I-10 meet (I've never been hassled riding there, but others have been). Where the I-10 and 111 meet (near Palm Springs) there is Whitewater (also called Windy Point)-this is a small dunes area that is tons of fun. Almost any powerline road anywhere!!
These are the major areas to your Northeast. The driving times would be something more than an hour. I'm not familiar with what's available in Orange Co. Let me know is you need more details.

I don't know of anyplace to ride in Orange County anymore (when I was a kid we could ride in what is now Anaheim Hills).
You can ride in Hungry Valley which is up on I-5 about 20 miles past Magic Mountain. You can camp there if you like. Lots of trails of various difficulty level. That's just over an hour away from H.B.
You can go up I-15 just past Victorville to Stoddard Wells, Slash X, Honda Valley. Same sort of terrain, desert trails, etc.
You can go to Johnson Valley which is east of Apple Valley/Hesperia. Very large open riding area (actually bigger than Glamis and is largest open area in Ca.). Take I-15 north, exit Bear Valley Cutoff, turn right until road dead-ends into Hiway 247, turn right and go 12 miles past the little tiny town of Lucerne Valley to Besemer Mine Road, turn left, you're there.

trapperb1-Where is Honda Valley? I thought it was on the South end of Hesperia. Looked for it once, but never did find anything. There is an area on Hwy 395, a few miles North of where it splits off of I-15. Is that it?
