When I let off the throttle at higher rpms I get a back fire, sometimes not very bad and sometimes pretty loud.

To add to this if I slowly rev up from idle the motor starts to knock at the mid to low rpm.

I will check my spark plug (being that this had not happen till I installed the new one) but what else should I check?
