which pipe to get?
Well, I have the Yoshi system + K&N.... and read some of the reviews after the fact.
To me, I just don't see much of a difference in any of them performance wise.
It's an expensive few extra ponies.
In my honest opinion, I think the majority of people mistake the sound for extra power.
It sounds a lot more powerful, but the true gains are much smaller on a 400EX.
I guess I have mixed feelings about aftermarket exhaust.
Mine is loud to me, but also sounds good.
It's not so loud I dislike it, but is it worth the noise?
In my opinion, probably not... quiet is better for our sport.
4-stroke exhaust just doesn't produce the gains 2-stroke exhaust does.
Not bad, I just guess I was hoping for more than any exhaust choice would give me.
The Yoshi is lighter and looks great... and will stay looking great much longer than stock.
It flows extremely well too... people don't like to be close behind me.

I run an FMF PowerBomb header and PowerCore 4 muffler. (I would go with the Q muffler however, if I was doing it today.) Plus, EHS Racing airbox lid with Outerwears cover and a ProDesign (ProFlow) foam air filter...and of course a rejet.</end quote></div>
Dang... I knew there would be an exhaust system I would overlook.
With me and my 2-stroke history I know I would have went for the powerbomb header.
Then with the best performance/quiet combo I could get for a muffler.
But I was sort of bummed with the quad when I first got it and I didn't want to go through my usual indecisive process of research and selection for every little purchase. So I forced myself to make some choices and get it over with.
I'm also using a stock airbox with lid and a K&N filter.
You went a totally different route there too.
I didn't do the work, I just asked for it to be "hooked up" with a combo that worked together on intake, jetting and exhaust. I struggle to find time to ride and just wasn't into the 'do-it-yourself' thing this time around.
I have a few more small decisions yet to make and a few of my own decisions to correct.
You have a lot more 400EX experience than me....
So if I started my own thread, on here or exriders, would you participate?

Dang!... I knew there would be a system I would overlook...
With my history with 2-strokes, I know I would have went with that header...
And then the best balance of silencing and power for a muffler.
But when I first got this thing, I was kind of bummed with it. So I did not want to go through my usual indecisive process of research and selection on all the parts. I just wanted to make solid quick decisions and get it over with, hoping to be more satisfied SOONER with my quad purchase.
I also notice you went a totally different direction with the intake, which peaks my interest. I didn't do the work myself... I just asked for it to be "hooked up" with an intake/jetting/exhaust combo that all worked together for performance and protection. So I ended up with a K&N in the stock airbox and unknown jetting/etc.
I still have a few more decisions to make, and a few decisions to correct, and a few questions to ask. You have a lot more experience with the 400EX than me... so if I started my own thread (here or on exriders) would you participate?
