Help. Can anyone tell what the top speed of this ATV should be? Max speed is 35 mph. Shifts fine in all gears.
Thx.

The 420s are limited to 56 MPH. 35 does seem low for an AT.

My 2005 Rancher 400 AT goes 52 mph top speed, never more, but surely not 35mph! Does it seem like it is wound out at 35? or does it feel like it has more yet?

Try this,
1. While holding the up and down shift buttons onthe left handlebar, turn the key on / off / on. The dash should flash.
2. Now press up / down / up on the shifter, and then press the throttle to full throttle one time.
3. This is called initializing the transmission.

Let me know if this solves your problem, otherwise there is a possibility that your transmission might be going out, even though it is relatively knew.

When you say shifter, do you mean the foot shifter? must be shifter on the bars.

Ok, I did it, the trans feels like it is not rolling freely, almost feels like the brake is on a little. Checked all brakes they are not on.

Forgot to mention the machine only has 200 miles on it. But has had these systems since it was new.
